Living Abroad: It’s Not Always Rainbows and Butterflies

Congratulations, you finally made your way to my very first writing. As the title suggests, you are here because you are curious about what it’s like to live abroad. The answer is simple. It’s ineffable. Yup, that’s the answer.

It’s funny when you were back home, you always got annoyed when your parents nagged at you. But, when you are a thousand miles from home, you suddenly miss their nagging.

At some point, you think that MRTs and buses are the most convenient transportation ever, but suddenly you miss riding the “motorcycle” that you can always order through your mobile app or simply driving your own car.

“What are we going to eat?” suddenly becomes the first world problem. When you were back home, the food was always there for you, and you didn’t have to think about it.

You miss how pampered you were. All your friends and family were always there to help you 24/7, even listening to your sad love stories (oops!). But when you living abroad, you have to be okay with doing things alone and help yourself.

The language and the culture. Even when you are able to speak the language, it doesn’t mean you won’t face misunderstandings with others. But it’s okay. That’s part of the journey, to make mistakes and learn.

That is enough for now. Looking forward to welcoming you to my future writings. Bye and thanks!
